Professor David Oliver

David is a retired Consultant in Palliative Medicine and was Medical Director of the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester for over 30 years. He is an Honorary Professor at the Tizard Centre at the University of Kent in Canterbury and he continues his academic role, in research, teaching and supervision of postgraduate students.

David has been interested in the palliative care of people with neurological disease for many years and has written and spoken widely on these issues. He is closely involved in the European Association of Palliative Care and the European Academy of Neurology and coordinated a joint consensus paper on the role of palliative care in neurology.

Within his clinical work he has cared for people with MSA and has been on the MSA Trust Services Committee for over six years. He was closely involved in the development of our MSA Needs Survey.
